Skin Care Treatments

By

Since Man first discovered vanity, he has sought to look more youthful than he actually is. Eternal youth is something that people have sought in vain. The explorer Ponce De Leon even went searching for the legendary Fountain of Youth. Alas, he never found it. But even though the fountain was never found, what people have discovered are anti aging skin treatments to help slow the effects of aging and in some cases, turn back the hands of time on your skin.

The presence and fear of wrinkles cause people to spend millions of dollars each year on anti aging skin care treatments. Not all of these skin care treatments work, so doing your research online is always a good idea before using one of these skin care treatments.

Anti Wrinkle Skin Care Treatments

The most common wrinkle treatments are anti wrinkle skin creams that are used on your skin. These skin creams can reduce such embarrassing skin problems as sagging skin, age spots and wrinkles. As with any skin care product, you should be careful to research them before using them as some of the current wrinkle creams on the market are made with harsh chemicals. Most creams on the market are made with synthetic ingredients and additives, what you should look for are natural creams with organic ingredients that are safe to use on any type of skin.

Other Skin Care Treatments

There have been a number of skin care treatments that have been introduced in the last couple of decades. Procedures such as Botox, laser resurfacing, Microdermabrasion, chemical peels, collagen injections, face lifts and Photorejuvenation are just some of the new breakthroughs in medicine in the latter part of the 20th century.

Botox injections can eliminate wrinkles (typically on the forehead) for a limited time. It consists of injecting a mild form of the botulism bacteria under your skin. This is not a permanent solution as the Botox wears off after about 6 months.

Microdermabrasion is one of the most popular surgical and laser skin care treatments in the country. It restores the skin to a more youthful appearance. What is more is that Microdermabrasion also helps in getting rid of superficial scars from acne. This procedure uses aluminum crystals to literally slough off and peel away layers of your skin. Effects of the procedure is said to better than those seen in Glycolic Acid peels. Another advantage is the longer healing and recovery time compared to other procedures. There is also a shorter treatment time as well very minimal discomfort. It is also said to be very safe for all skin types as well as all races.

Photorejuvenation consists of using a laser to remove mild acne scarring. The scarring can be improved by causing a new layer of collagen to form on the skin.
